Vonage Review and General Information

Perhaps the best known VoIP internet phone service provider due to the amount of money they spend on advertising,  is also one of the largest providers in the United States.  As of April 2006, Vonage had over 1.6 million subscriber lines. Vonage VoIP service is sold via the internet and also in some major retail stores.  Service is available to customers in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.  Vonage has several Calling Plans to choose from, including unlimited calling, limited calling, and international calling.

Vonage has been around since 2001, and in March 2002 they officially launched their broadband phone service.  The first residential VoIP customer signed up shortly after the launch and is still with Vonage today. In 2004, Vonage service became available in Canada  and Vonage partnered with Circuit City and began selling VoIP internet phone service in retail stores.  In 2005, Vonage service became available in the United Kingdom and Vonage announced their first Wi-Fi VoIP phone. 

As of March 2006, Vonage announced that they had 1.5 million subscribers.  In June 2006, they announced the first VoIP phone on a memory stick.  The V-Phone is a small USB flash drive on a keychain, designed to provide subscribers with Vonage VoIP service wherever they go - all that's needed is a computer. Also in 2006 Vonage expanded their unlimited calling plans to include free international calls to Italy, France, Spain, UK and Ireland.

• Vonage small business unlimited VoIP plan includes a free dedicated fax line.  The Vonage business unlimited plan is $49.99 per month and includes unlimited calls to USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, Italy, France, Spain, UK and Ireland.
• The limited plan for small business internet phone service is $39.99 per month and also includes a free dedicated fax line just like in the unlimited business VoIP plan.  This plan includes 1500 minutes of calls within the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
